This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Human Resources and Health & Safety professional with thorough knowledge of legislation and experience in the establishment of policies and procedures. You will be an influential and vital member of the Leadership team managing major projects including Human Resources and Health & Safety best practice across the business.

You will be joining a very successful NZ owned and operated Transport / Logistics organisation who have a strong reputable presence in the marketplace, they are recognised as Auckland’s most professional cartage contractors. Their fleet enables them to offer a wide range of services from nationwide goods & freight, logistics & distribution; managing the delivery through planning to precise execution, and heavy haulage.  Nothing is too big or small for this company. They are serious about Human Resources and Health & Safety hence the creation of this newly created role.

About the role:

In this role of Human Resources / Health & Safety Advisor you will be leading and managing the following:

  • Implement, manage and maintain the HR and Safety management strategy, policy and procedures
  • Provide operational advice and support across the business ensuring risks are identified and managed
  • Coordinate and facilitate initiatives to ensure consistency across the business
  • Lead inductions, training, toolbox talks, site safety meetings
  • Ensure legislative and company compliance
  • Report on H&S statistical findings and suggest improvements
  • Organise and manage internal and external audits
  • Oversee and follow up on all incident, accident and hazard reporting including injury management / claims and return to work
  • Develop, build and maintain relationships with all internal and external stakeholders
  • Review and maintenance of workplace health and safety and HR related policies and processes
  • Risk assessments
  • Provide HR advice and support to Managers, Leaders and staff
  • Recruitment
  • Performance management support and advice
  • Training and development

About you:

You will be well versed in Employee Relations, Induction, Recruitment, Engagement, Talent Management, Unions, Remuneration, Learning & Development and Health & Safety and will be confident in your knowledge and ability to add value immediately. To be successful undertaking this role we are seeking someone who possesses the following attributes, traits and experience:

  • Strong H&S and HR management and leadership qualities; leads by example

  • Experienced working in Manufacturing, Industrial, Transport and or Logistics
  • Lateral and logical thinking
  • Clear and concise communication skills

  • Strong ability to juggle a number of tasks at any one time
