Inventory Controller

Position Overview: We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Inventory Controller to oversee and manage the inventory and shipping processes for both North and South Island. You will be responsible for maintaining optimal stock levels, shipping, demand planning, manage the cycle counts program, ensuring inventory accuracy, and supporting the overall efficiency of the supply chain operations.
You will be joining a locally owned and operated company specialising in the importing, processing, and distribution of plywood and hardwood decking, who distribute nationwide. Key Responsibilities:
- Inventory Management:Monitor and maintain accurate inventory levels to meet operational demands while minimising excess stock.
- Shipping: Manage and oversee shipping schedules and operations including import documentation compliance
- Demand Planning:Collaborate with the warehouse and sales teams regarding the inventory needs and initiate timely stock replenishment orders.
- Inventory Audits:Manage the cycle count program to ensure inventory accuracy and reconcile discrepancies. Lead MPI audits in conjunction with the TFO
- Data Analysis:Analyse inventory data to identify trends, forecast demands, and help with stock levels optimisation.
- Reporting:Prepare regular inventory reports, highlighting key metrics and areas for improvement.
- Process Improvement:Identify opportunities to enhance inventory management processes, reduce costs, and improve operational efficiency.
- Collaboration:Work closely with warehouse, sales, and external stakeholders to coordinate shipping, inventory activities and address any issues.
- Compliance:Ensure adherence to company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements related to inventory management and importing of product.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as an Inventory Controller or in a similar role within supply chain management.
- Strong understanding of inventory management principles and best practices.
- Experience using ERP systems for data input and analyses.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
